Eiji Yanagawa

President & CEO

Eiji joined Mitsui & Co., Ltd. in 1993. For more than 25 years, he was engaged in a wide range of energy business based in both Tokyo and London. Eiji started his energy career in the commercial area of E&P (Australia, SE Asia), then moved to petroleum trading (naphtha, condensate and fuel oil), and for more than a decade, has had a variety of responsibilities in the LNG industry such as trading/origination, project management and new business development. Before joining MEMS, he worked for investment administration and portfolio management at Mitsui's headquarters for 3 years. Eiji was appointed as President & CEO of MEMS in April 2019 to enhance the company growth as a multi-commodity energy trading platform in the USA.

Shigeki Nakao

Chief Financial Officer

Shigeki was appointed as Chief Financial Officer of MEMS in December 2019. Prior to this role, he held a variety of positions in Japan, Brazil, Thailand and Singapore. His nearly 20 years of experience at Mitsui & Co., Ltd. has mainly been in accounting/finance, risk management, and investment management. Shigeki holds a Bachelor of Art in economics from the University of Tokyo, Japan and Fellows MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management in Boston.

Rick Neitz

SVP, Head of Natural Gas

Rick joined MEMS in 2018. He currently serves as Senior Vice President, Head of Natural Gas and oversees gas marketing and trading for Mitsui’s upstream assets in the Marcellus basin and offshore Gulf of Mexico; feed gas management for Cameron LNG in Louisiana and Fairway Methanol in Texas; as well as expanding Mitsui’s presence in 3rd Party trading throughout the US. Rick has over 20 years of experience in the natural gas trading industry. Before joining MEMS, he was Head of Natural Gas for Gazprom Marketing & Trading (USA); Managing Director of Natural Gas Trading for Sprague Resources; and Regional Manager - Northeast for Duke Energy Trading and Marketing. Rick holds a BBA in Finance from the University of Houston - Downtown and MBA from the C. T. Bauer College of Business at the University of Houston.

Toru Komatsubara

SVP, Energy Trading and Marketing

Toru was appointed as Senior Vice President of the Energy Trading and Marketing Division at MEMS in May 2021. In this role, Toru Before being appointed to his new role, he was the General Manager of Biomass Fuel Dept., Mitsui & Co., Ltd. In his over 20 years of experience at Mitsui, he was engaged in various fields of the energy business, mainly in a leading role of petroleum trading, renewable energy businesses, and LNG projects in the Middle East and Russia, including an expatriate experience at Sakhalin Energy Investment Company Ltd. for three years. Toru holds a Bachelor of Art in economics from the Hitotsubashi University, Japan.

Yuki Nishikawa

SVP, LNG Division

Yuki joined MEMS in 2020 and is responsible for MEMS overall activities relating to its participation with the Cameron LNG project including investment, commercial operations and marketing. He also oversees business development activity related to LNG in North and South America. Yuki has been with Mitsui & Co., Ltd. more than 20 years. His prior responsibilities include LNG trading & marketing and project management/business development in LNG and oil and gas upstream.

Craig Gilchrist

VP, Power Trading

Craig has been in the Energy Trading business for over 20 years, primarily focused on deregulated electricity markets. At MEMS, Craig is responsible for executing Mitsui & Co. Ltd. trading and investment strategies within the deregulated US power markets. Prior to joining MEMS, Craig led TXU’s Commodity Risk Management team through ERCOT’s initial deregulation before joining the commercial team in 2005. In 2008, Craig was recruited to DTE Energy Trading, eventually heading up the ERCOT trading and origination team. Craig received his Bachelor of Arts in economics from the University of Texas at Austin.

Yoshitaka Hirabayashi

Director, Oil Trading

Yoshi joined Mitsui & Co. Ltd. in 2007. For more than 10 years, he was engaged in mainly commodity trading (fuel, oil, LNG, etc.) in Tokyo and Singapore. Yoshi started his energy career in the Strategic Planning department, then moved to petroleum trading. Before joining MEMS, he worked for LNG trading department at Mitsui & Co. Ltd. headquarters for 3 years. Yoshi was appointed as Director of Oil Trading in March of 2021 to lead oil trading in the USA after serving as Manager of Oil Trading for 1.5 years. Yoshi holds a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from the Nagoya University in Japan.

Barry Tycholiz

Director, Oil Origination

Barry started his career with Shell Canada Products in Calgary and has been in the energy sector for over 30 years where he held a variety of leadership and management positions across regions and commodity sectors. He joined Mitsui over 2 years ago and holds the position as Director, with the responsibility for originating, structuring and development of commodity-based transactions across a variety of product lines. Today, Barry transacts in crude oil, products, liquids and renewable energy mandates around transportation, storage, asset and project development and works very closely with the respective trade desks and logistics teams regarding physical and financial structured products and with management on developing and implementing strategies. Barry holds a general arts degree from the University of Winnipeg.

Jeannie Kim

Director, Risk Management

Jeannie joined MEMS in 2015. She has 20 years of experience in the energy industry and currently serves as Director, Risk Management. She oversees market risk, credit risk, confirmations and ETRM trade support for natural gas, power and crude oil trading. Prior to this role, Jeannie worked at Reliant Energy in retail pricing and DCP Midstream in market risk management. She has vast experience in system implementations, building and refining audit controls, and creating risk processes and procedures for new businesses. Jeannie has a BA in political science from Trinity University and is currently serving in the C. T. Bauer College of Business at the University of Houston Women in Leadership Advisory Panel.

Valerie Richards

Director, Human Resources and General Affairs

Valerie joined MEMS in 2017 and currently serves as the Director of Human Resources and General Affairs. Valerie oversees all aspects of human resources and office administration for MEMS and our sister company, Mitsui E&P USA LLC. Prior to joining Mitsui, Valerie spent 8 years at EnerVest, Ltd in various HR roles of increasing responsibility. Valerie received her MBA from the University of Houston - Clear Lake and her BS in human resource development from Texas A&M University. She holds the Professional of Human Resources (PHR) certification and the SHRM-CP certification.

Toshifumi Kazamatsuri

Director, LNG Division

Kaza joined MEMS in 2017. He currently serves as Director of the LNG Division at MEMS as well as President & CEO at an affiliate company Mitsui & Co. Cameron LNG Sales LLC. He is responsible for commercial operations, marketing and business development activity related to LNG in the Americas. In his more than 15 years of experience at Mitsui & Co., Ltd., he was engaged in LNG marketing, shipping, operations, project management and business development.

Benny Zhang

Director, IT

Before his appointment as IT Director of MEMS, Benny has held various IT management positions with multiple manufacturing and oil and gas companies. He has twenty years of experience in information technology and managing diverse IT teams. Benny oversees the IT department for MEMS and our sister company, Mitsui E&P USA LLC. After joining the company in 2015, Benny has helped the IT department redefine its mission to Protect the Company and Be a Business Enabler and championed the Users First, Same-Day Service initiative. Benny holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering and a master’s degree in chemistry. He is also a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
